If this shop was open and trading the name would be funny, but looking at it (and all the other closed shops it is wedged between) just makes the world (and Manchester) look a little bit more decrepit and desperate. Sad and shit at the same time.

When I photographed this shit-looking tanning shop, a guy came out and told me I had to have permission to do so. Which I don’t. It’s on a public highway and English law says I don’t have to ask for permission. So I told him to swivel and made good my escape.

It’s a pity this dog grooming shop was shuttered when we photographed it – it looks a bit forlorn with its shutters down. We did see it open, before taking this snap, though we’re not sure if it’s now closed for good, or not. At the end of the day it’s a half-decent funny shop name ruined by shit signage. Obviously drawn by the owner’s 12 year old kid. Terrible.

Christ on a bike! What is this? Text-speak shop names? At first I thought it was funny, but now I think that it’s obscene. World-wide literacy standards are bad enough as it is, without shops contributing to the problem. This really is shopping for illiterates…
